Sustainability

Act now for a better tomorrow to target Net Zero carbon by 2040.

Our Environmental Policy

We are leading the way in sustainability. This is our commitment to net zero carbon emissions by 2040.

The climate crisis is the most urgent challenge our planet is facing, and it requires urgent action. As a commercial building spanning over a million square feet, we understand the importance of reducing our carbon footprint and taking concrete steps to protect the environment. That's why we have set an ambitious goal to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040. We have adopted a comprehensive approach that covers not only energy and water consumption, but also reducing organic materials, recycling, and reuse.

Choosing sustainability is choosing the future

Carbon Neutrality

At 555 Midtown,

we understand that one of the biggest contributors to carbon emissions is heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC). That's why we're committed to improving our HVAC systems to be more energy-efficient in order to reduce our carbon footprint.

Building a better world for tomorrow starts with action today.

Achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 is not just about reducing our environmental impact, but also about creating a healthier and more sustainable future for our tenants, the surrounding community, and the planet as a whole. We recognize that the transition to a sustainable future is a shared responsibility, and we are committed to working with our tenants, partners, and relevant organizations to achieve this goal. We believe that our ambitious goal of carbon neutrality by 2040 is not only achievable but also necessary. We're proud to be part of the solution to the climate crisis and look forward to continuing our work towards a more sustainable future.

Thus, we have invested in upgrading our HVAC systems to state-of-the-art energy-efficient models that consume less energy and are designed to operate at maximum efficiency. Our system upgrades have included the installation of digital thermostats, energy-efficient motors, and variable-speed HVAC units. These improvements not only reduce our energy consumption but also enhance comfort and air quality for our tenants. We have also implemented several energy-saving policies throughout the building. For example, we have adopted a policy to turn off lights and electronic devices when not in use and implemented an energy-efficient lighting system.

Recycling and
Zero Waste

At 555 Midtown,

we believe that waste reduction is crucial to protecting the environment, conserving resources, and reducing costs. To achieve this goal, we have implemented a comprehensive waste reduction and recycling program that encourages our tenants to reduce, reuse, and recycle. We see waste reduction and recycling as fundamental elements of our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. By preserving resources and reducing waste, we can contribute to the global effort to create a more sustainable future.

Create a sustainable future by making conscious choices now.

Our program includes various initiatives, such as providing e-waste recycling services to ensure proper disposal of electronic devices, diverting construction and demolition waste, as well as donating furniture and equipment in good condition to local charities. In addition to our internal initiatives, we have also established partnerships with external organizations to promote waste reduction and recycling, and to provide our tenants with educational resources and documents on how to effectively recycle and reduce waste in order to adopt environmentally friendly practices.

One of the key ways we will achieve this is by offering a "Zero Waste to Landfill" service to our tenants by the year 2030. This ambitious goal means that we aim to not send any waste from our building to landfills, which is a crucial step in reducing our carbon footprint and protecting the environment. Firstly, we conducted a comprehensive waste audit to identify the different types of waste generated in our building and how we can optimally divert them from landfills.

We have also implemented a comprehensive recycling program that includes separate bins for paper, plastic, glass, and metal, to ensure that these materials are properly recycled and not sent to landfills. Convenient recycling facilities are located throughout our building, including common areas, offices, and loading docks, to make it accessible to everyone. We also encourage our tenants to use reusable bags, containers, and bottles, and to choose products with minimal packaging.

Furthermore, we encourage our tenants to practice waste reduction and reuse. For example, we have implemented a "Pack it in, Pack it out" policy for all events held in our building, which requires participants to take their waste with them when they leave. Some may express skepticism by stating that if waste is disposed of elsewhere, it will not make a difference in the end. In response to this, imposing the "pack-out" creates pressure on event organizers, encouraging them to significantly reduce the amount of waste generated.

Water

As a commercial building, we are aware of the importance of reducing our water consumption to protect this precious resource and contribute to a more sustainable future. We have implemented a number of practices and initiatives to reduce our water consumption, including the installation of low-flow equipment such as toilets, showers, and faucets, prompt repair of plumbing and equipment leaks, use of efficient systems such as sprinklers with moisture sensors, regular monitoring of water consumption to detect and quickly repair leaks, and finally, raising awareness among building occupants about water conservation practices and encouraging them to report any unnecessary water waste or leaks.

Conservation of water is essential for our survival

At 555 Midtown, we have made a strong commitment to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint. We understand the impact of climate change and are taking decisive action to ensure a more sustainable future for our community and the world. We are upgrading our heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems to more energy-efficient models and have convenient recycling facilities throughout our building to facilitate recycling for everyone.

We are making significant progress in reducing our carbon footprint through the incorporation of renewable energy sources and implementing energy-saving policies. We are proud of our "Zero Waste to Landfill" service that we will offer to our tenants by 2030 so that all waste is either recycled, composted, or converted to energy through anaerobic digestion. We recognize that we have a responsibility to set an example and encourage other commercial buildings to join us in our efforts to protect the environment.

We are committed to continuing to innovate and improve to achieve our goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 and urge others to act for a greener future and a more sustainable world.
